/ September 29, 2016Plurimus, I have considered the impact of a recall effort on the community balanced against the damage caused by letting the extraordinary precedents set by Donna Bell’s campaign stand.
They can’t stand.
I also considered her pledged responsibility to the community to serve in a manner above reproach, her sworn duty to uphold the laws, her many promises to run transparent and ethical campaigns before I began asking her to step down.
She has gone too far, broken the public trust to severely, to continue to serve on Council.
She must leave.
Right now my hope is she will do so voluntarily but if that fails I am resolved to work with any and all of my fellow Chapel Hill residents to do what must be done.
