  1. The $31M initial tab for remediation of just the lower Booker Creek watershed suggests staff and Council has done a lousy job mitigating poor development decisions made 2005 to 2018.

The consequences of these decisions were clearly laid out by concerned citizens and those concerns were torpedoed by staff who, rather than being penalized for their mistakes, were elevated to the highest positions in Town government.

In short, resiliency was a secondary concern – at best – and it was the residents of our community who led the way.

Hear, hear. The Planning Board discussed drainage and flood mitigation for every large project 2009-2015 (when I was on it): in particular, the Ephesus-Fordham area’s form-based code has none, while paving and making impermeable every acre above Eastgate. Nothing that conforms to that area’s code of appearance is required to mitigate flooding, contribute to affordable housing, include space for transit, provide green space…nothing.
