I thought the whole point was to increase the supply of housing and lower housing costs across town….?

/ December 2, 2013Depends on whom you ask. I don’t think increasing the housing supply will lower rents. Some council members and town staff believe increasing commercial square footage and residential density will reduce the likelihood that the town will raise residential property taxes. I guess we’ll see.

A key principle adopted unanimously by the Steering Committee was PRINCIPLE 13:
“Consider Economic Impacts in Development Decisions
As part of the planning process,
consider the fiscal impact and economic viability of proposed development in the area.”
