/ April 5, 2012Regarding the ductbank at Carolina North, I understand UNC has to dig up a portion of the airport runway in order to complete it. Then they plan to repair the tarmac to get the airstrip up and running again for the convenience of private aircraft owners. This seems like a HUGE waste of tax payer money since they’ve already announced the airport’s closure for late this year or early next.

/ April 5, 2012I don’t recall that interesting detail being mentioned in the development presentation.

/ April 5, 2012‘Tis indeed so. Check with the powers-that-be.

/ April 8, 2012Hey, what’s the big deal? It is ONLY taxpayer money. I mean, it’s not like it’s SOMEONES money, thank heaven!
Chapel Hill can just raise taxes to pay for the repair. No problem!

/ April 27, 2012The current plan is to hold off construction of the section of the ductbank that crosses the runway until the airport is closed permanently as announced.

Thanks for clarifying – but WHEN is the airport going to close? That’s what the 2020 leadership is interested in.
