We could all take a lesson from your mom. And your observation of the will to live is something to reckon with. We have similar discussions in my family. I hope you have found some solace and comfort from family and friends, especially from those three “strong-willed” siblings. I know you’ll miss her.

We heard so many “Shirley stories” at the visitation and reception after the memorial service, and that helped tremendously (if only to realize she bossed everyone around, not just her four independent-minded children). Not a bad legacy to leave a trail of funny stories in your wake. Here’s the link to her obituary:

    Back to politics on Monday.

Nancy I am so sorry for your loss. It sounds like your Mom died on her own terms which is a great accomplishment. Thanks for opening up, it is your humanity that makes this blog worth reading.

Your mom sounds like a wonderful woman. “She lived life with enthusiasm and resilience, and never said no to new experiences.” We should all love life so much. You’re very lucky to have such a role model, in life and in death.

One note about the death file, if Don ever gets around to making his. Make sure to keep the passwords in the safety deposit box.

    Thanks for sharing.
